ResNexus—No Per-Reservation Fees on Your Booking Engine
ResNexus doesn’t charge reservation fees for bookings from our online booking engine or for over-the-phone reservations taken by your staff. Commission-free bookings save your business money.
RMS Charges Per-Reservation Fees on Direct Online Bookings
RMS charges $3.00 per site per month. In addition, they charge a $1 transaction fee for online reservations. RMS does state that a campground can charge the guest any amount for this fee. With ResNexus, there is no $1 transaction charge for online bookings, so if a campground decided to charge an online booking fee, that property would make 100% profit.
Free Setup and No Contract Required
We’re more than a software company. That’s why all ResNexus PMS Editions include free setup, data import, and support. In addition, we don’t charge you to import your data into ResNexus. No contract required. If your property chooses to connect to OTAs, ResNexus does charge a one-time setup fee starting at $99.
RMS Requires a 36-Month Contract and Setup Fees
RMS requires a 36-month contract and charges a $4,500 one-time implementation fee that includes 9 one-hour sessions. Data import is included in that setup fee.
ResNexus Lifetime Pricing Guarantee
ResNexus charges a simple flat rate based off of your units and season. In addition, we provide peace of mind with our Lifetime Pricing Guarantee. Rest easy knowing that as long as you own your business, the price of your campground management software won’t increase unless you add more units. We only grow when you grow. That’s just one more form of stability that ResNexus provides.
RMS Prices Vary Based on Online Booking Volume
RMS's pricing model is similar to other OTAs, meaning that they charge your campground for every online booking. This means that the more online bookings your campground gets, the more commissions you have to pay.
Fast and Friendly Onboarding
Our data importer makes it easy to transfer your customer data and quickly be up and running. For responsive clients, setup and initial training can take less than a week. Our average onboarding timeline is 2 weeks. ResNexus does not limit how many training sessions a property can have. In addition, we train additional staff members for free!
RMS Onboarding Timelines
RMS states that depending on the availability of the client, the average onboarding timeline is 3 weeks. For the $4,500 one-time implementation fee the client can commit to as few or many sessions per week for up to 9 sessions.

Which All-In-One Solution Is Right for Your Business?

Do you want more time-saving tools included per subscription level or more expensive a la carte pricing?
ResNexus Has Many Built-in Features Included
ResNexus’ philosophy is to provide numerous built-in tools to help you save time and money. These include automated email marketing, retail add-ons, guest portal, travel protection, point of sale, and much more. ResNexus does also offer several add-on options such as text messaging, Wi-Fi door locks and utility readers, custom websites, and digital relationship marketing.
RMS Has More À La Carte Features
RMS offers more 3rd party integrations than ResNexus for services such as revenue management, email marketing, and more. That means you may need to operate multiple accounts and logins, pay more subscription fees, and work with support from multiple companies to resolve any issues that arise. In addition, with RMS you might pay a la carte for more specific features you may need. Like ResNexus, RMS also has text messaging and websites as an additional optional service.
Save Time with Staff Training and Onboarding
ResNexus is robust, yet easy to learn and train for new staff members. That’s because you’ll be able to do most everything from one login, and there’s only one system to train! ResNexus is more than a software company. Our industry-leading customer support is ready to take your call and is an excellent educational resource for your business. In addition, ResNexus provides hundreds of "How to" videos and support articles in your back office system. That means time saved for you and your business.
More Integrations For Your Staff to Learn
RMS is a powerful system, especially for hospitality veterans and experts who have a lot of prior experience with the various systems that it uses. However, having to keep track of multiple 3rd party integrations might be challenging for new staff, especially because they may have to remember more logins and support numbers to do their job.
ResNexus Has Hundreds of Reviews
ResNexus is highly rated on Google and Facebook and is the highest rated product in the Campground Management Software category on Capterra, with similar ratings on Software Advice. Many of our reviews mention our customer and phone support. We recommend you check out both companies' user reviews found on these sites.
RMS Has Hundreds of Reviews
RMS has hundreds of positive reviews on Capterra and Software Advice. We recommend you check out both companies' user reviews found on these sites.
ResNexus Was Founded in 2004
ResNexus is one of the fastest growing campground reservation softwares in the industry! Founded in the United States, ResNexus was created in "the cloud" before most people knew to even call it the cloud—over 19 years ago. We were one of the first cloud-based online booking engines and property management software systems. We bring innovations, integrations, and solutions from multiple hospitality industries to your campground. At ResNexus, elevating your business and helping it grow is our passion, and has been since 2004.
RMS Was Founded in 1983
RMS was founded in Australia in 1983, and serves many properties across multiple industries. After 35+ years they successfully operate in several regions, including Australia, North America, UK , Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. RMS moved from desktop-based to the cloud in 2015.
ResNexus Offers Affordable and Seamless Websites
ResNexus can provide your business with a mobile-friendly, SEO-optimized, ADA-friendly website for only $80 per month and setup fees starting at $499. This includes hosting, security, initial design and a page that lists your top 3 attractions! Most website companies charge anywhere between $2,500 to $5,000+ to initially build your website. This service saves time and reduces the number of vendors that your business has to call and coordinate with. ResNexus also offers Digital Marketing services.
RMS Does Not List Their Website Pricing
Unlike ResNexus' upfront flat pricing found on our website, RMS requires you to call to request pricing for their website services. In addition, RMS does not include the page with the top 3 attractions for their template websites as part of the initial cost. Like ResNexus, RMS also offers SEO and Digital Marketing services.

Online Shopping Experience

Which one would you rather your guests see?
ResNexus Keeps it Simple
ResNexus was designed with your guest in mind. They can click any unit to see expanded availability, or select a dropdown menu for rate type options, but there’s only one “Book Now” or "Add" button for each listing. In addition, your guest has the option of shopping by a sidebar special or package first and then selecting the site—a ResNexus-only feature!
RMS Can Have Multiple Button Options
Depending on how the property chooses to set their rate settings, the RMS booking engine provides many different booking buttons for the traveler to parse, especially when they’re just trying to select an individual unit. Your property can include the OTA rate as well.
ResNexus Shows Your Availability While Shopping On Both Whole Property and Individual Unit
Right from the start your guest can see what they want to see: your sites and cabins! If there is no vacancy then the guest can quickly select the 2-month or more calendar and see when the unit is available right from the start. Your guest doesn't have to guess what dates are available.
RMS Shopping Experience Can Be Complicated
RMS allows you to have as many required fields as you want—but won’t show any inventory to look at until all the fields are complete. Filling out multiple required fields might be convenient for your business but could be viewed as a hassle by your guests. In addition, the RMS calendar does not show the guest the dates that are occupied for either the whole property or individual unit.
ResNexus Has Promotional Side Bars on the First Page
ResNexus displays your top retail offers and specials to potential guests right from the start. In addition, your retail items are shown again on a separate callout page once the guest selects a site.
RMS Does Not Have Sidebars
RMS doesn’t have retail sidebars on the first landing page of their booking engine. Retail items are not shown until after site selection. That means your guests won’t be able to see what specials, packages, or retail items you have available until after they choose a unit to book.
ResNexus Retail Items Stand Out Throughout the Shopping Experience
In addition to sidebars on the first page, your guest is shown your add-ons again after they select the unit and before payment is collected. Retail items can give your business thousands in additional revenue and enhance your guests' stay. ResNexus allows your guest to select multiple retail items without having to hit a back button.
RMS Retail Items Display After Unit Selection
The RMS booking engine does display specials, packages, and retail items after the guest has selected a unit. You can also add multiple items without having to hit a back button. Unlike ResNexus, RMS does not allow the guest to shop by special or package first and then select the unit.
ResNexus Policies Stand Out
During the booking process, your policies stand out because ResNexus uses a simple step-by-step progression throughout the reservation process. ResNexus allows you to call out or highlight the most important policies for your campers to know. In addition, you can require a signature or not.
RMS Hides Your Policies
With RMS, the guest will have to click the small link(s) at the bottom of the checkout page to view your policies and terms and conditions. This means they might not be aware of your restrictions and rules regarding pets, equipment, and use of your facilities, which can cause friction with the guest experience.
ResNexus Travel Protection Can Save You Time When Managing Last-Minute Cancellations
With ResNexus Travel Protection, you can protect your business from revenue losses from last-minute cancellations due to illness, injury, or death. Your guests can simply select the Travel Protection option during the booking process, and if they cancel for one of the protected reasons, both you and your guest will be reimbursed 100% of the booking cost minus the travel protection fee.
RMS Does Not Integrate With a Trip Protection Service
RMS does not currently provide a limited warranty trip protection integration. If a guest has to cancel last-minute due to illness or a health condition, your property must fall back on your own cancellation policies, which could result in a loss of revenue depending on the strictness of your terms and conditions.

What Marketing Tools Do You Need?

Expand your reach with OTAs and other tools.
ResNexus Has Built-In Cart Abandonment
Many times, a potential guest can get interrupted during the checkout process. ResNexus uses permission-based marketing to send that guest a reminder email to finish booking. ResNexus protects your clients' guest information and doesn’t sell it to 3rd-party marketing companies. In addition, we follow GDPR regulations and guests must first agree to receive these types of email communications by selecting a box on your online booking engine.
RMS Does Not Offer Built-in Cart Abandonment
RMS doesn’t offer built-in cart abandonment tools.
ResNexus Integrates with Google Travel AND Google Ads
What’s the difference? Google Hotel Ads act as an OTA for your business, with commission-free direct bookings when travelers search for accommodations. Google Ads allow you to advertise your property directly to consumers. ResNexus integrates with both, and gives you the power to manage them from within your ResNexus login.
RMS Integrates with Google Travel
RMS also integrates with Google Hotel Ads. However, they will charge a $1 online booking fee through this powerful OTA connection.
ResNexus Online Travel Agency Direct Integrations
ResNexus helps your campground get found and get booked by integrating directly with OTAs such as Booking.com, Airbnb, TripAdvisor, and Expedia, as well as Spot2Nite, The Dyrt, Glamping Hub, HipCamp, and BookOutdoors, which are campground-specific marketing channels that accept tent and RV sites. In addition, ResNexus has a unique direct connection to Vrbo that does not use ical. This helps prevent double bookings from having to manually enter in reservations from Vrbo. ResNexus has commission-free pricing options to connect to the OTAs. This means that your business has zero additional commission fees charged by your PMS software. In addition, ResNexus does offer hundreds of additional OTA connections through our partnership with a 3rd party channel manager.
RMS Offers a Wide Variety of Direct Connects
RMS can connect to many OTAs (currently even more than ResNexus) with their own built-in channel manager. In addition, they can use 3rd party channel managers D-Edge, Hotel Link, Resonline, and Siteminder.
ResNexus Can Make a Map
If your property doesn’t currently have a map or if you would simply like a new one—ResNexus is here to help. We can provide a detailed 2D map based off of Google that will impress your guests. Maps start at $199.
RMS Doesn’t Provide Maps
RMS doesn’t provide map illustration services.
ResNexus Is a Preferred Partner with Expedia and Airbnb
ResNexus achieved Preferred Partner status with both Expedia and Airbnb for building and maintaining a quality integration with these world-class marketing channels. This means ResNexus offers powerful features and capabilities built into the PMS system from these providers.
RMS is Not a Preferred Partner with Expedia and Airbnb
RMS integrates with Expedia and Airbnb, but has not achieved Preferred Partner status with either.

ResNexus Travel Protection Can Save You Time When Managing Last-Minute Cancellations
In the event the guest cannot make their reservation due to a wide variety of unforeseen illnesses or health conditions, they can apply for a 100% unit reimbursement any time up to 14 days before the departure date or up to 30 days after. The automated Travel Protection refund portal looks like your online booking engine and helps reduce the headache of managing the administration of refund processing. In addition, much of the refund or reimbursement process is automatically handled by ResNexus on your behalf. This reduces back-and-forth phone calls or emails with the guest during the cancellation process.
RMS Does Not Offer an Automated Travel Protection Refund Process
RMS does not integrate with a trip protection service, meaning that your business is responsible for handling all cancellations that may occur last-minute due to illness or a health condition.
ResNexus Provides Comprehensive Filtering
Our innovative ResNexus calendar lets your business see exactly what you need with advanced filters such as payment status, retail items, check-in status, and reservation source. So if you need to quickly see which guests have checked in and ordered retail items, it's only two checkboxes away. It's as simple as that. Need to quickly view all of your Booking.com bookings? In the time it takes to think about it, it's already done. The ResNexus calendar puts you in control, so you can see exactly what you need.
RMS Does Not Provide as Many Filter Details
RMS calendar does not provide the same comprehensive filtering options as ResNexus.
ResNexus Helps Prevent Direct Online Bookings from Banned Guests
ResNexus helps prevent a bad experience from happening again by allowing you to ban a guest from making reservations through your online booking engine. Whether they book online or call in to your business, ResNexus reminds you that the guest is on your naughty list.
RMS Lets the Banned Guest Make a Direct Online Booking
Unlike ResNexus, the RMS Booking Engine does not allow you to ban a guest from making a direct online reservation. In RMS, when you disallow or ban a guest, you receive a notification in the RMS back office if they make a direct online booking. Then you or your staff will need to manually cancel that banned guest booking.
