Make Money and Save Time with Unit Optimization and Lock Fees

In a nutshell, Unit Optimization sorts your guests by the unit class they've reserved, and condenses those reservations into the smallest number of units possible, opening up larger chunks of availability on the ResNexus reservation grid or calendar. Our property management system does all of this on your behalf, at 2:00 AM every single day. That's a giant time-saver for you, no effort required!

For your guests, the change is imperceptible. They still get the unit type they were looking for, on the days they wanted. But on your end, it's a world of difference. Where before you might have had a checkerboard reservation grid, now everything is condensed and streamlined. When new guests go to make a booking, they find plenty of availability where before there might have been none.

Unit Optimization only shuffles reservations within the same class, and it doesn't affect units that have been locked with a Lock Fee.

Lock Fees are for guests who won't settle for just any unit or room. They don't just want any campsite that can fit four tents, they want the one by the pier and the bathrooms. Maybe they want the exact one they went to last year. Well, honoring these requests is simple! You can provide your customers with the option to "lock" a reservation for a fee paid directly to you, ensuring that Unit Optimization won't shuffle their booking around.

This gives your business the best of both worlds, and opens the door for lots of additional income. On one hand, you're increasing your availability, which means more reservations and more revenue! And for the guests who want what they want, they have an option to get exactly that by paying you a Lock Fee! How to Use Unit Optimization Effectively

First, toggle Unit Optimization in your ResNexus back office. You can do so simply by navigating to Settings → Operations → Misc. With one click, you're looking at a massive improvement in reservations and revenue.

To guarantee that every guest receives the booking they were looking for, you'll have to make sure you have each unit classified by its specifications and amenities. For example, suppose you manage an RV park. You would classify each RV site by its length, hookups, and parking style. So when a guest wants to park their 55' RV in a pull-through site with a 50-amp hookup, they're guaranteed to have what they need.
