Mini Availability Calendar TM - A Reservation Nexus Innovation
Our fresh approach to online reservations allows guests to immediately see an inn's room pictures with corresponding availability. There is a fine balance between showing block availability calendars and actually using an availability calendar to encourage rather than discourage guests. While block availability calendars are useful, they can also be harmful.
For example: Being overly vacant during a season can scare people away who may be afraid of occupying the inn alone. At the same time, low occupancy provides a security risk. Bed and breakfasts are great targets for petty crime because they can be located outside of the city, usually contain lots of electronic equipment and are unoccupied during low vacancy periods when innkeepers are likely to be away from the inn as well.
When Reservation Nexus released the Mini Availability Calendar TM, it was attached to the the guest reservation side to aid guests in their reservation. A reservation placed with you should be an all in one deal instead of constantly re-directing guests away from your rooms to look at availability again.
There is a certain "wow" factor when guests see your room pictures alongside the Mini Availability Calendar TM. Not to mention that the guest doesn't have to remember dates and can easily re-select room dates if the room they fall in love with is unavailable.
Other reservation systems will ask the guest to check availability first before showing your rooms. This method is a style similar to many large hotel software systems whose guests are more concerned about a roof over their head than the experience. Bed and breakfasts are not hotels, so why use software made for hotels?
